Jharkhand govt to give land to 2 lakh landless tribals

Ranchi, Aug 3: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the state government would be distributing land among two lakh tribals who are landless in the state.

Chairing the meeting of the Tribal Advisory Council here he also announced that for all appointments and admissions the candidates need to submit an affidavit in the court for obtaining the caste certificate which would be provided to them after two months. He said that the certificates issued to the SC/ST would remain valid as earlier.

The Chief Minister said that if any person is found committing wrongdoings while filling up online application form for any jobs and try to mislead the youth that strict action would be initiated against them. He instructed the DCs to make sure that no such acts of frauds are committed in their districts

Mr Das said that the people of the state want development and the process of development should be centered around basic infrastructure and employment generations. He said that his government wanted to remove the poverty from the state. Over the suggestions of the TAC members regarding making registration of marriage compulsory the Chief Minister said that the government would soon take a decision in this regard.

During the meeting TAC member and MLA Ramkumar Pahan suggested that under the CNT act the provision of sale of land which is confined to the jurisdiction of a particular police station area may be done away with while in the SPT Act the non tribals living in the Santhal Pargana region be allowed to sale and purchase land of the non tribal people for building the houses.

Over this the Chief Minister announced formation of a committee which would be chaired by Welfare Minister Louis Marandi and while have Ram Kumar Pahan, Menka Sardar and J B Tubid as its members. He said that the committee would look into the current provisions of police station jurisdiction restriction in sale and purchase of land and put forward its suggestions. The committee would also look into area whether the non tribals can be allowed to purchase the land belonging to the non tribals in Santhal Pargana and give its suggestions.
