Bokaro/Dumka: Notification has been issued on Friday for the bypolls on Dumka (Reserved, ST) and Bermo seats of Jharkhand Assembly following which the process of filing of nominations has commenced.
DCs cum district Electoral Officers for Dumka and Bokaro issued the notification for these two seats. For nomination candidates can reach the office of the concerned electoral officer and file his or her nomination between 11 am to 1 pm during which only two more people can accompany the candidate.
Candidates can file their nominations on these seats till October 16 while scrutiny of the nomination papers would be held on October 17 while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 19.
The voting on these two seats will take place on November 3 while counting of voted would be done on November 10.
The bypolls on these two seats are being held as Chief Minister Hemant Soren who won from both Dumka and Barhet seats of Santhal Pargana resigned from Dumka and took oath as the member of the house as an MLA from Barhet while the Bermo seat fell vacant following demise of Congress heavyweight leader Rajendra Singh.
So far only JMM has announced the candidature of Basant Soren who is the younger brother of Chief Minister Hemant Soren from Dumka who would be filling his nominations on October 12 while the Congress is yet to name its nominee for Bermo seat. On the other hand BJP too has not declared its candidates for both the seats.
