Ranchi: On Friday the special police officers who had been agitating at the Morhabadi Grounds since last Saturday demanding permanent service ran out of patience as they broke the barricading on their way to Gherao the Raj Bhawan and the CM house.
Late in the afternoon the SPOs moved towards the Raj Bhawan where they came face to face with the barricading, the jawans of the RPF and district police asked them to go back which got the SPOs angry and they broke the barricading.
To bring the situation under control the RPF and district police jawans lathicharged upon them and also fired tear gas shells. This further added fuel to fire as after seeing some of their fellow SPOs injured the remaining started pelting stones on the policemen.
Later injured from both sides were rushed to RIMS by different ambulances. Upon receiving information SSP Ranchi Surendra Kumar Jha along with City SP, Traffic SP and ADM Law and Order reached on the spot and held talks with the agitators. They asked them to peacefully conduct their agitation and not indulge in violence.
On the other hand, the SPOs said that they were peacefully going towards the Raj Bhawan when they had a conflict with the district police and lathicharge was ordered. They said that they too were aware of the honour of the uniform but were left with no options as their points were not being listened. Further, they said that since the last one week of their agitation no one from the government had tried to talk with them, therefore, they were peacefully going towards the CM house.
Nearly 2,500 special police officers from 12 LWE districts are on agitation since last Saturday at the Morhabadi Grounds demanding permanent service. Earlier they had also tried to gherao the CM house and the Raj Bhawan but were sent back from barricading.
