Ranchi: After a gap of five months the bus services in the state commenced on Tuesday however while it brought the smiles back on the faces of operators on the other hand only few travellers turned up at the bus stands on the first day as the people are being made to pay double the fare.
As part of the guidelines laid down by the transport department the people were made to follow distancing on their way to the buses after which they were made to undergo thermal scanning after which they were allowed to board the buses.
The bus conductors were also seen asking questions from the travellers as to whether they had given Corona samples for tests after which they are asked to wear mask and their details including name, address, mobile number and other details were noted in the register.
When questioned the travellers said that double fare was for their safety. They said that paying double the fee was difficult for them but social distancing was very important and above all the directions of the government have to be followed. Another passenger said that the buses are being sanitised and was satisfied to note that all safety measures are being adopted.
Since it was the starting day of service some of the buses which departed from Khadgara Bus Stand had only 10 passengers in them. Throughout the day cleanliness was also maintained at the hospital while regular announcements were also made through a mike.
