Ranchi: So far in the state, 2,565 police personnel have been detected positive for Coronavirus.
A statement issued by the state police headquarters here today said that out of these 2,565 police personnel, 1 is a SP Rank officer, 1 is a ASP rank officer, 6 are DSP rank officials, 25 are inspector rank officers, 152 are Sub Inspector rank officers, 217 are Assitant Sub Inspector rank officers, 4 are higher level clerks, 178 are constables, 1,865 are jawans/drivers, 54 are fourth-grade employees and 56 home guards.
On the other hand, 887 policemen have been cured and discharged. However, these figures based on data available until August 9. The Police Department has so far reported 6 deaths caused due to Coronavirus. As per the latest figures currently, there are 1,672 active cases among the policemen.
The police headquarters has already issued necessary instructions to all the police officials that apart from maintaining law and order they should take necessary precautions against Coronavirus. The policemen have been asked to maintain social distancing, wear masks, use sanitizers and take all necessary precautions to prevent themselves against Coronavirus, moreover they have been also asked to take adequate safety measures while taking the accused to the jail.
The police headquarters has urged the police officials to solve the complaints of the people through the citizen portal and WhatsApp. Further, all the officials and policemen have been asked to remain in 14 days quarantine who have come back from leave.
Further, the police department has also started Abhiyaan Samman on the directions of DGP to solve the problems of the policemen. In the second phase of Abhiyaan Samman, all the SPs and Commandments would issue a number in their respective areas so that problems of the policemen and other staff can be solved. Under this campaign so far 259 complaints have been registered out of which 62 have been solved while 197 are in the process.
