Proposal to amend article 21 of CNT Act and article 13 of SPT to be withdrawn: Raghubar

Ranchi, Jul 3: Making a u-turn after Jharkhand Government returned the
file proposing amendments in the CNT and SPT Acts in the state, Chief
Minister Raghubar Das following the meeting of the tribal advisory
council announced that the proposal to amend article 21 of the CNT and
article of the SPT would be withdrawn.

Mr Das said that the state government wanted to move forward with the
cooperation of all and invited the social and political organisations
to come forward and give their suggestions to the state government and
the government would be welcoming their suggestions. He also announced
that the next meeting of the TAC would be held on August 3, 2017.
The Chief Minister said that before Governor Draupadi Murmu various
political and social organisations had put forward their suggestions
over the amendments in these two acts. These suggestions have been
sent back to the state government so that the amendments can be more
justifiably made.

He said that after the Governor pointed out the issues and after
consulting the political and social organisations and the cabinet
ministers alongwith leaders of the BJP and coalition partners it was
decided that the amendments proposing amendments in these two articles
would be withdrawn. He said that detailed discussion on two other
proposals would be held in the meeting on next TAC to be held on
August 3.

Mr Das said that for him the welfare of the people of the state was
the top priority and his government would not be making a
differenciation between the people whether they belong to the SC/ST or
the OBC. He said that in the previous meet of the TAC it was decided
that the state government would ensure the education of  the students
belonging to the SC/ST community and would be helping them get loans
for which a fund of Rs 50 crore has been set and Jharkhand would be
the first state in the country where such kind of fund has been set
up.

The Chief Minister said that the meting also discussed t o provide
home loans to the SC/ST and it was decided on the basis of the
decision of the Tripura high court the state government would urge the
centre to make amendments in the Surfacy Act. He said that the center
would be requested that if a tribal fails to pay the loan than the
state government would bear the cost and would later give it to some
other tribal.
