Rath Yatra celebrated in Jharkhand, CM participates in the festival at Jamshedpur

Ranchi/Jamshedpur, Jun 25: The occasion of Rathy Yatra was celebrated
with traditional fervour and gaiety in the state with the main
function being held at the centuries old Lord Jaggannath Temple
located in the state capital.

Lord Jagnnanath alogwith his elder brother Lord Valbhadra and sister
Subhadra left for ‘Mausi Bari’ on a wooden cart. In wake of the
festival since 4 am in the morning a large crowd of devotees had
assembled around the temple. After the rituals were conducted by the
priests the doors of the temple were opened to the people.

In wake of the huge crowds adequate security arrangements had been
made inside and around the temple premises and also in the vicinity
where a huge mela is also ongoing. More than 30 magistrates have been
posted in the premises alongwith police in plain clothes have also
been positioned to keep an eye on trouble mongers. Women police
officials have also been deployed on duty.

A special police control room has been built at the middle school
located in the area where teams of fire tenders and additional jawans
have been kept stationed.

Thousands of devotees pulled the cart of Lord Jaggannath to his
journey till ‘mausi Bari’ where he would be staying for 9 days and
will comeback on July 4. The historical Rath Mela of Ranchi draws
visitors from West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Raghubar Das participated in the Rath Yatra
organised at Ram Mandir of Bisthupur of Jamshedpur. Mr Das also
offered his obeisance to the god and seeked prosperity and happiness
for the people of the state.
