Ranchi: Agriculture Minister Badal has called for collective efforts to meet the targets set by the government as the officials have the responsibility to meet the goals.
Addressing a workshop organised on Kharif Crops he said the challenges posed by pandemic Coronavirus have to be converted into opportunities. He said that due to lockdown large number of migrant workers have come back to the state and there was a need to encourage them to take up farming and other agricultural activities.
The minister said that the officials should also ensure that farmers get the benefits of all schemes which are being operated by the government and asked them to make sure that all the farmers are linked with PM Kissan Yojana by August 15. He said that the Agriculture Department will play an important role to tide over the crisis created by Coronavirus.
The Agriculture Minister also laid the stress to strengthen the ‘Bazaar Samitis’ so that they are able to achieve their purpose. He asked the agricultural officers to reach in the villages and encourage the farmers to take up organic farming. He said that the state government was committed to encourage farmers for organic farming and would also ensure that they get the correct price for their produce.
The minister said that the department is coming out with its annual calendar in which dates of agricultural activities would be mentioned. He said that from next year May 25 would be celebrated as Beej Diwas. Further, he also directed the officials to make sure that the farmers were accessibility to agricultural equipment. He also asked them to encourage the farmers to opt for agricultural loans.
