In the departments which fall under the building construction department contracts worth Rs 25 crore would be reserved for the local contractors.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given his consent to a proposal in this regard after going through the provisions of the Jharkhand Building Construction Department and Bihar Finance Regulations. Now the proposal would be presented before the cabinet.
The step has been taken by the state government to ensure the participation of the locals and provide them employment opportunities. The state government is trying to create jobs not only in the government sector but also in other areas.
Further the properiter of the firm should be based in Jharkhand and incase of partnership firm the registered office should be registered in Jharkhand. Further the office of the private Ltd company should be in Jharkhand, incase of joint venture the lead partner should be based in Jharkhand.
Further, the contractor would not be allowed to change their address in the certificate further it would be also important that local residence certificate and caste certificate should be issued by the SDM or equivalent authority.
The government further said that when the quotation of two contractors is the same than contractors hailing from the ST/SC/OBC One and BC Two would be given priority. However on the basis of priority only one any contractor would be given priority.
