Chaibasa: The ultras of the proscribed CPI Maoists went on a rampage under Barkela Police Station area of this district as they carried out blasts in the buildings of the forest department and also set vehicles on fire.
Police sources said a large contingent of the armed ultras reached at the premises of the forest department in the wee hours and carried out IED blast in the office and residential block after which they also set in a fire many four-wheelers and two-wheelers which they found in the premises.
The Maoist first took the people of the forest department hostage and also beat them up but later they were released. The ultras also pasted posters on the spot through which they demanded to remove the forest houses which have set up in the area and also asked to restore the rights of the people over the forests.
