Probe ordered in suicide of farmer as opposition demands compensation

Ranchi, June 12: Jharkhand govt on Monday  constituted four member team to probe the suicide of a farmer on outskirts of Ranchi.

Kaleshwar Mahto, 44 committed suicide on June 10. According to family members he was remaining  in tension due to loan.  He left a suicide note which says that he was under distress for a loan taken under Kisan credit. He is survived by his wife two girls and patents. He was living at Pithoria of Ranchi.

Jharkhand Agriculture secretary on Monday constituted a four member team to probe the entire incident. Jharkhand govt has yet to announced any compensation to kin of the farmer.

Former Chief Minister and JMM executive president Hemant Soren visited the family members.

“ The family members should be given Rs 10 lakh compensation and other support to family members. The farmers are leading a precarious life in the state” said Soren to reporters.

Reacting the farmer’s suicide Jharkhand Urban Development Minister C.P. Singh said “ this isa suicide or murder will be revealed after probe. Let the investigation be completed”.
