CIP should be developed on likes of NIMHANS Bangalore says Guv

Ranchi, May 17: Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu said that the CIP Ranchi which has completed 100 years of its foundation should be developed on the lines of NIMHANS Bangalore.

 

Addressing the function organised on the occasion she said that she at her level has interacted with the Prime Minister and Union Health Minister so that the institution can be developed on the lines of NIMHANS and become a center of excellence.

 

She said that professionals from CIP have played an important role in the area of mental health and is also an inspiration for other organisation working in the area of mental health and said that organisation has made a separate identity for its self at the national level.

 

The governor said that over the last few years the mental diseases are on an increase in the country which was a serious challenge. She said that to tide over mental disorder or depression is a serious challenge and it is found that many people due to these illness commit suicide. The case of mental disorder and suicidal tendency are on increase among the children which was sad and a matter of concern.

 

She said that people are in stress due to various reasons. People suffer depression when they fall behind in the race of life and commit negative actions however instead of doing such things they needed to make themselves internally strong and become self determined.

 

Ms Murmu said that youth are falling for depression due to consumption of alcohol and drugs which should be avoided as they are the future of the nation. She called to conduct special awareness drive against liquor consumption among teh youth. She also raised her concern over the increase in the number of suicides being committed by students for either their poor results or for fearing bad performances.
