24X7 DD Channel for Jharkhand approved says Naidu

Ranchi, May 16: Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu  said that on the demand of Chief Minister Raghubar Das the central government has approved a 24×7 Doordarshan Channel for Jharkhand.

 

Addressing a press conference at the project building here he said prior to the start of 24×7 DD Channel everyday slot would be provided to Jharkhand in DD Bihar. He said that on the directions of the Prime Minister the Union Ministers would be holding review meetings with the Chief Minister as the Prime Minister wants quick development in the country.

 

He said that the central government has started foru new schemes: AMRUT, Smart City, Pradhanmantri Housing Scheme (Urban) and Swach Bharat Mission (Urban) for which the central government plans for the next three years have been prepared. He said that under Atal Navinikarna and Urban Transformation Scheme under which till 2020 60 projects worth Rs 1246 crore has been approved. In the first two years out of the 32 schemes which have been approved out of which tender has been issued of 26 pc schemes, Mr Naidu said.

He said that in seven cities which are covered under AMRUT Yojana the number of house stood at 5.71 lakh and in 1.94 lakh homes water supply through pipelines was being done while for the remaining the work would commence in the next three years.

 

Mr Naidu said that ESSL has been given the responsibility to replace all the street lights with led in the country which helps to sav e40 pc power. He said that Jharkhand was awarded the most film firendly award in the National Film Awards and for the building the film city National Film Development Corporation and Satyajeet Ray Film and Television Institute Kolkata would work together. He congratulated the state government for modern building buy laws and asked the officials to speed up work and bring more transparency.

The Union Minister said that it was matter of pride that Jharkhand and Chas had been awarded among the clean cities of the country while six cities including Chas, Mango, Bundu, Khunti, Lohardaga and Gumla have bee declared ODF while the remaining cities would be made ODF free by October 2. Mr Naidu said that under the Swach Bharat Mission scheme in Jharkhand the share of the central government amounts to Rs 259.2 crore out of which 68 pc of the funds have been approved.
