Jharkhand ranks among the top 5 states to implement Swach Bharat Mission

Ranchi, May 16: Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that Jharkhand ranked among the top five states  in implementing the Swach Bharta Mission programme.

Reviewing the progress in execution of plans and schemes of the Urban Development Department in the state he said the state has made rapid progress in Pradhmantri Urban Housing Scheme compared to the other states which was mainly due to the able leadership and administrative skills of Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

 

He said that out of 2.55 lakh applications under the scheme 60916 houses have been approved while 32,000 houses have been geo tagged, the minister said adding that the Chief Minister should also be lauded for opening of the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of the scheme.

Mr Naidu also suggested to take more steps in the area of solar power, rain water harvesting and waste management. He also reviewed the progress of schemes under Urban transport, Rashtriya Shahri Ajivika Mission etc.

 

On the occasion Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the progress for DPR and tender for the greenfield smart city were in the last phase and on a priority basis the work of plantation and road construction would be commence. He said that signage would be put in the area for building the convention center, super speciality hospital, business tower, skill development institute, educational institute etc.

 

He said that the progress in construction of the smart city would make people get inspiration and implement similar schemes in their area. Those present included Jharkhand Urban Development Minister C P Singh, Secretary Union Urban Development Department Rajeev Gauba, Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Kumar.
