J’khand Govt forms state road security council: Nidhi Khare

Ranchi, May 12: Acting on the directions of the High Court over the rise in road accidents i n the state the Jharkhand Government has formed the state road security council which would be headed by the Chief Minister himself while in the district the DC would be heading the committee.

 

Addressing a press conference at the Suchana Bhawan here Principal Secretary cum spokesperson of the Jharkhand Government Nidhi Khare said that the council would work to create awareness among the people. She said that compared to teh previous years accidents between Jan-March 2017 have increased in the state and taking serious note of the rise in the incidents the state government has decided to further strengthen the road safety laws as per which in case of over-loading a fine of Rs 400, dangerous driving Rs 1,000, driving vehicle under alcohol influence Rs 2,000, high speed Rs 500 and without permit Rs 500 and without driving license Rs 500 fines would be imposed on teh first occasion. After three offences the driving license of the offender would be cancelled. Apart from that for other rules related to road affety the fines have been fixed.

 

She said that after the directions of the supreme court a ban was impose on sale of liquor with 500 meters of the NHs and so far in the state 684 liqour shops located on the NH has been closed. She said that during 2015-16 the state government has spent Rs 5.42 crore for road saffety as part of which alchohal meter and speedo meters are being purchased.
