Dhanbad/Ranchi, Apr 20: BJP’s Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh who was in Dhanbad
jail over the charges of conspiring to murder his cousion and former
deputy mayor of Dhanbad Neeraj Singh and three others was shifted to
Birsa Mundra Central Jail of Hotwar Ranchi.
Amid elaborate security arrangements in a bullet proof SUV Sanjeev was
brought to Hotwar Jail in the morning. District Tranport Officer cum
Incharge Jail Superintendent Pankaj Kumar Sao also went to Ranchi
alongwith Sanjeev in the convoy which consisted of three bullet proof
vehicles. The action has been taken following the instructions of Jail
IG Suman Gupta.
On Wednesday evening a letter was received by Dhanbad DC regarding
shifting the MLA to Hotwar following which on the next day the jail
administration filed an application before the judicial magistrate to
shift Sanjeev to Hotwar. Apart from half a dozen vehicles of the
government and police atleast a dozen vehicles belonging to family
members of the BJP leader and his supporters also followed behind.
SDM Rakesh Kumar and DSP D N Banks escorted the MLA till Telmacho
bridge after which the Bokaro Police escorted the convoy and the same
exercise was repeated as the vehicles passed Ramgarh and finally
entered into Ranchi. Upon rcahing Ranchi he was taken to the Hotwar
Jail wher he has been kept in upper division ward.
Neeraj Singh and four others were shot dead on March 21 at Saraidhela
and in the same case the MLA was in Dhanbad jail since April 11. The
IB had alerted the jail administration and the district officials that
his life was in danger following which the jail IG earlier ordered to
shift him to Dumka however after the family members of the MLA and BJP
legislators opposed the move he was shifted to Ranchi.
