CCL achieves target set for 2016-17 produces 67 MT of coal registers a growth of 9.3 pc

Ranchi, Apr 16 : The Central Coalfields Ltd, a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd said that it has set a target to produce 80 million tonnes of coal during the year 2017-18 compared to 67 MT of coal produced for 2016-17.

 

Addressing a press conference at the CCL Headquarters at Darbhanja House here CMD Gopal Singh said that the company has accomplished a new feat by recording coal production of 67.04 MT and coal dispatch of 60.9 MT in the financial year 2016-17.

 

” This achievement has a special place in the history of the company as CCL had almost stagnant growth till November 2016 due to low coal demand. CCL has set an example for others by registering a growth of 9.3 per cent despite all odds and this is the third consecutive year when CCL has achieved its target with almost double digit growth,” Mr Singh said adding that the company was confident of achieving the target of producing 80 MT of coal in 2017-18.

Mr Singh said that in 2015-16 the company had produced 61.32 MT of coal. He said that CCL was quite confident that the double digit growth would continue in future. Adding further he said that during FY 2016-17 the company could remove about 102.6 million cubic meter over burden while the coal off-take was highest ever at 60.9 MT.

 

The CMD attributed this success by the company to the ‘Kayakalp Model of Governance’ which is based on the doctrine of transparency, bold decision making, ethics and philanthropic approach. He said that by following this model any other public or private company can achieve success.

Mr Singh said that the company was working with the objective of social transformation based on the path of development. He said that 77 schemes for social welfare are being currently run by the company and 11 new other schemes are in the pipeline. He said that company has laid foundation for building a center for the Divyang in Pithoria of Ranchi while a motor training driving center would also be set. He said that company has set up an eco-park in Piparwar and similar parks would be set up in all the other areas.

 

To a query he said that the company was serious over the issue of opening a medical college in the state and is in talks with the government for land. He said that once the land is provided teh college would be constructed.  Mr Singh said that the company also hopes to commence dispatch of coal rake from the McCluskieganj-Piparwar railway line from May as the construction work has been finished.

 

Over the plans to undertake a coal-to-liquid project the CMD said that CCL will invite expression of interest soon for it.Coal to liquid refers to conversion of coal to liquid fuel which could be used as automobile fuel. The diversified product of coal could also be useful for replacing imported petroleum oil.
