Dhanbad, Apr 10: The opposition parties staged a Mahadharna at the
Randhir Verma chowk here demanding for a CBI probe into the murder of
former Dhanbad Mayor and Congress leader Neeraj Singh.
Addressing the protest former minister Bacha Singh said that he had on
three occasions spoke with the Chief Minister over the issue who had
sought three days time, but since that all efforts to reach him have
turned out to be futile. He said that functioning of the police was
questionable as despite a named FIR against Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh
he has not been arrested.
Former cabinet minister and Congress leader Mannan Mallik said that
unless punishment is handed to the killers the people of Dhanbad would
not sit quiet. State president of JD(U) Jaleshwar Mahto said that in
the entire state including Dhanbad the condition of law and order was
pathetic and criminals were running riot in the district.
Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee said that before the case of Ranjay Singh
coul be solved Neeraj Singh was murdered. He said that who so ever had
killed Neeraj Singh wanted to create terror in the area. He said that
the incident should be taken as a challenge by the state government.
Later a delegation of the opposition leaders met the DC and handed him
a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister demanding for a CBI probe
into the incident. Neeraj Singh alongwith three others was shot dead
on March 21.
Meanwhile wife of Neeraj Singh, Poornima Singh has demanded for a CBI
probe into the incident. The SIT and Dhanbad police which was
investigating the case has made many arrests including those nearer to
the Singh Mansion and claimed that it was on the verge of cracking the
case.
The police is cornering BJP MLA Sanjeev Singh for the
murder of his cousin and former deputy mayor of Dhanbad Neeraj Singh.
Police has started its homework before arresting Sanjeev Singh. Police
sources claimed that one after another close associates of Sanjeev
Singh or Singh Mansion have been arrested in the case which was enough
proof for his arrest.
However police has decided that he would be questioned once more and
may also approach the court for getting an arrest warrant against him.
Sources said that information provided by Dabloo Mishra was also
enough to arrest the MLA.
