EID celebrated across Jharkhand with fervour and gaiety

Ranchi: The festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr which marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in the state with members of the Muslim community offering Namaz at the local ‘Idgahs’ and later indulged in merry making.

Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Hemant Soren also extended their greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Eid. In their message, the leaders have appealed to the people to celebrate the festival in brotherhood and communal harmony and also prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the people of the state.

In the morning the people clad in their new festive clothing reached their nearby mosques and Idgahs to offer namaz. The most crowd was witnessed at Ranchi and Doranda Idgahs were the people both young and old and children offered Namz and later greeted each other on the occasion of Eid.

People also gathered at the local mosques located at Kanke, Doranda, Bariyatu and Kantatoli to offer Namaz and later feasted upon ‘sewaiyan’ and also visited the home of their relatives to exchange pleasantries on the occasion. Various social, political and religious organisations had also erected welcome stalls outside the prominent mosques where they greeted the people on the occasion of Eid.

In wake of the festival, elaborate security arrangements had been made in the state capital and also in other districts of Jharkhand with additional jawans and policemen being deployed to maintain law and order. Drone cameras were also deployed to keep an eye
on happenings in sensitive pockets.
