Sahibganj Boat Accident: Two bodies recovered

Sahibganj: On Saturday two bodies were recovered following the ferry incident which took place in the Ganga between Sahibganj and Manihari Ghat of Katihaar district. On Saturday the first body was recovered towards Manihari while the second body was recovered from the incident spot located in Bihar.

Two NDRF teams from Jharkhand and Bihar for the last 24 hours were involved in search and combing operations. As per the information received so far a total of 6 trucks had fallen into the river and four families have registered complaints regarding their kin being missing.

Out of these four bodies, two have been recovered while searches are on for the remaining two. Sahibganj SP Ramnivas Yadav said a team of the district administration was camping on the spot. He said that there were a total of 15 trucks on the ferry out of which 6 had fallen into the water.

The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Yadav and Mohammed Parvez. On Thursday night the cargo ferry was going to Bihar from Jharkhand. On the way, the tire of one of the trucks blasted due to which the ship lost balance as a result of which apart from the one truck, five others also fell into the waters.
