Three elephants run over by Gyaneshwari Express

Jamshedpur, Aug 7:  In a tragic incident three wild elephanst were run over by the Mumbai bound Gyaneshwari Express on the Tatanagar-Kharagpur section in the wee hours of the day.

Railway officials said that the incident took place near Gidhni railway station located on the bordering areas of Jharkhand and West Bengal. Due to the incident traffic on the route was hit by for four hours. The bodies of the elephants were removed from the tracks at 0600hrs after which the train was sent to Mumbai.

Chief PRO of the SE Railway Sanjay Ghosh said that currently the movement was being done through the down line and after the electric poles would be repaired the traffic movement from the up line will be started by the evening. In wake of the incident couple of passenger trains were cancelled.

Post the incident Jhargram-Purulia Memu Passenger and Jhargram-Dhanbad Memu Passenger have been cancelled for the day.
