HC asks Home Secretary to appear before court in fake surrender of Maoists case

Ranchi, Aug 7: The Jharkhand High Court has summoned Home Secretary to appear before the court on Augsut 28 in the case related to surrender of fake Maoists.

Earlier the court went through the sealed report of the state government over the issue during which the government lawyer pointed that since the issue was very sensitive therefore hearing should not be done in open court after which court decided to take up the case in the chamber. The court in its order said that during the hearing video recording would be done during which only the judge and home secretary would be present and no other lawyer or government official.

The government counsel pleaded that officials of the police department should be present with the home secretary which was opposed by the other party over which the court maintained that to only ask few questions from the Home Secretary the case will be heard in the chamber.

Jharkhand Democratic Front had filed a petition in this regard demanding for a CBI probe into the issue in which 514 tribal youths (male and female) were branded as Maoists and made to surrender on the pretext of providing them jobs and money.
