Quality education is the priority of the government, 21,000 students to get tabs

Ranchi: In the financial the year 2021-22, in total 136 residential schools under the department, students of classes 1 to 12 will be provided mobile tabs to continue their studies at home due to the closure of residential schools due to
of Covid-19.

With regard to the scheme, Minister Champai Soren said that the education of about 21000 students belonging to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of the state would not only continue but quality teaching material would also be provided to them. He said that the department has also ensured the arrangement of recharge and SIM with tabs so that studies are not interrupted due to lack of recharge.

Also, all the important and essential learning material will be pre-loaded in the tab. The main points of this scheme included in view of the situations arising due to Covid-19, students of classes 1 to 12 in residential schools will be given mobile tab (with pre-loaded e-content) and 12 months in residential schools for alternative arrangements for reading. SIM card (minimum 2GB per day) will be made available with data recharge.

Out of 143 residential schools currently operating under the department, except 7 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, students from class 1 to 12 of the remaining 136 residential schools will be covered by this scheme. In 7 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, mobile tabs will be made available to the students from the Government of India level. An expenditure of about Rs 26 crore 25 lakh is estimated on the purchase of about 21000 mobile tabs (with preloaded e-content), SIM cards and 12 months data recharge under this scheme.

The amount for SIM card (minimum 2GB per day) with 12 months data recharge will be made available to the concerned District Welfare Officer. Based on the availability of the network at the local level, the SIM card (with 12 months data recharge) has to be made available to the students by the concerned District Welfare Officer. Purchase of mobile tab (with preloaded e-content) will be done through GeM from the level of Tribal Welfare Commissioner’s office as per the prescribed procedure.
