Seven of family commit suicide in Ranchi

Ranchi, July 30  Seven members of a family committed suicide here on Monday, police said.

Deepak Kumar Jha, working with a leading private company, committed suicide along with his parents, brother, wife and two children, a police officer said.

Police found the bodies of the two brothers hanging from the ceiling fan in their rented house. According to house owner A. Mishra, Deepak Jha, 40, wanted to set up his own business but was in debt. His younger brother, Rupesh Jha, 30, was unemployed.

The five other family members were found dead on the bed. The children included a son and a daughter.

The incident took place at Boria area. Police have not found any suicide note. The reason for the suspected suicide is not clear.

“Primarily it seems a case of suicide. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and CID Teams have collected sample from all the seven dead bodiess.  Two suicide notes have been recovered. One suicide note has been recovered from 15 page suicide note from Deepak and two page suicide from Rupesh” said Amol V Homkar , Deputy Inspector General of Police of Ranchi range to reporters.

He said “ the suicide note of Rupesh says that the Deepak was fearing that he could be implicated in a financial fraud case where he was working. We are investigating the case from all angle. Till now we have not reached to any  conclusion. It seems both broth first killed five of the family members and later hanged themselves. Investigation is going on on seized document. The investigation is being done under monitoring of Ranchi SSP”.

According to DIG the post-mortem of the dead bodies will be conducted by a team of doctors and videography will be done.  The five of the family members were eithr killed by strangulation or with sharp edged knife.

The incident came to notice when the school van of Deepak Jha’s daughter kept blowing its horn on Monday morning. A girl student from van knocked the door and saw the bodies. According to neighbours the five year old son of Deepak was suffering from some disease since birth. He was in debt of Rs 20 lakh.
