Govt makes amendments in Naxal reward policy, increases the financial power of police officials

Ranchi, Jul 24: The Jharkhand Government decided to amend the previous
announcement made regarding declaration of awards on hardcore wanted
Maoists and criminals in the state after which even the district
superintendents of police will have the power to declare award upto Rs
1 lakh on extremists and Maoists.

A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state
cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das at the
project building here. It was decided that apart from the SPs the DIG
will have the power to declare an award of Rs 2 lakh while the IG and
the DG will have power to announcing an award of Rs 5 lakh. However at
any particular time a maximum on 400 terrorists/extremists and Maoists
can be declared.

Briefing the press later cabinet secretary SKG Rahate said that the
cabinet also decided to simplify the process of Aadhar verification
for transfer of property and marriage registration. According to this
NRI and people of Indian origin and overseas residents of India who do
not have Aadhar numbers they will have to mention the number on their
passport or any other identity proof of the country which they come
from and will attach a self attested copy of that proof alongwith the
necessary documents.
