Jharkhand Bandh: Police warns of strict action against violence instigators

Ranchi, Jul 4: The Jharkhand Police will be adopting all possible measures including deployment of drone and CCTC cameras to keep an eye on anti social elements who might try to create law and order problems during the opposition sponsored Jharkhand bandh on July 5.

Addressing a press conference Principal Secretary Home SKG Rahate said more than 5000 jawans will be deployed to maintain law and order in the state on that day apart from that two companies of RAF, six companies of RAP, 3100 home guard jawans alongwith tear gas units and riot control units will also be deployed.

He said that at all the sensitive spots as per the need CCTV cameras have been installed and arrangements for videography has also been made moreover drones will also be deployed to keep and eye of such trouble makers. He said that all PCR vans, mobile units, QRT teams, and district police has been asked to be keep mike set, video cameras, tear gas shells to be used in case of any emergency.

Mr Rahate said that any person who would be found guilty of damaging the public or private property against them action as per law will be taken and they would be also made to pay for the losses incurred. He said that Supreme Court has passed an order as per which forceful bandh called by any party is unconstitutional and in case violence takes place than a contempt of court case will also be filed.

DGP D K Pandey who was also present on the occasion said that Jharkhand Police was geared up to tackle the bandh and special vigil will be maintained at all the sensitive spots. He said that under the democratic principles any one is allowed to register a peaceful protest but forceful closure damage to life and property will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that Jharkhand Police will not be making deliberate use of force during the bandh however it was prepared to tackle all contingencies including the use of plastic bullets.
