Two youth from Jharkhand lodged in South African prison for last one month

Ranchi, May 27: Couple of youths one hailing from Hazaribagh and
another from Bokaro district are languishing in a South African prison
for the last one month where they have been allegedly arrested on the
charges of rape.

Girdhari Mahto (23) of Gorhar village under Barkattha Police Station
area of this district and Dineshwar Mahto (23) of Sidhbara village
under Chatro Chatti Police Station area of Bokaro are lodged at Malawi
prison for the last one month.

Both of them in November 2017 had gone to South Africa to work in a
transmission line project of a private company. Both of them have been
arrested on charges of rape by South African police and have been
jailed in that country.

On the other hand the family members of the duo said that their sons
have been framed in a wrong case and are in the prison since April 19,
2018. The families have urged the state government and the local
representatives to ensure safe release and return of their loved ones.
