Covid Test in RIMS to be conducted by Cobas Machine, CM to inaugurate Central lab on Wednesday

Ranchi: The speed of Corona testing will be increased in Ranchi as now the samples will be tested at the Cobas machine which has been set up at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science here and will be officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday.

So far only through RTPCR machine the samples for Covid were being tested at RIMS. The hospital will also be the first in the state where the samples will be tested through Cobas machine.

Head of Department of Microbiology at RIMS Dr Manoj Kumar said that with the help of the new machine the Corona samples will be tested in a better manner and in a day 1200 samples will be tested. He said that not only Corona but other viral infections can be also tested through the machine which will be beneficial for the patients coming to the hospital. The machine can help detect Hepatitis B and C, HIV etc.

The central emergency lab in the hospital will be also inaugurated on Wednesday where nearly tests can be done. The lab will be run by pathology, biochemistry, microbiology and lab medicine department. More than six new machines have been installed here to conduct different tests.
