Cabinet approves power subsidy, to be out in public after approval from EC

Ranchi, May 3: The Jharkhand Government on Thursday approved the power subsidy which would be provided to the electricity consumers of the state.

However quoting the implementation of the model code of conduct which was present in wake of by-polls to the Silli and Gomia seats of the Jharkhand Assembly the subsidy formula was not detailed to the media after the cabinet meeting got over.

Power Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni said that a proposal in this regard has been sent to the Election Commission and once the EC gives its nod than only it would be made public. However he did maintain that the new rates were very much high but after inclusion of subsidy the people would find minor increase in their bills.

A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das at the project building here. The cabinet also decided to form a new sub divisional police office in Sarath of Deoghar District.

An official press note issued after the meeting said that apart from a new sub divisional police office and new police station would also be formed in Kurkura of Gumla district for which creation of additional posts and purchase of vehicles was also approved.

In another key decision the cabinet decided to make Industries, Mines and Geology as separate departments. As per the decision Mines and Geology department would be different while Industries Department would also function independently for which amendments in the Jharkhand Executive Rules 200 in the first list of departments was also approved.
It was decided that the tenure of the Jharkhand State Law Commission be approved from 14.11.2016 to 13.11.2019 from retrospective effect. The cabinet also approved the MOU which has been inked between the state health department  and Union Fertilizers Ministry for opening Jan Ausadhi Centers in different districts of the state. Apart from that The cabinet also approved amendments in the notification issued for qualifications for electricity observers.
