Decisions will be taken in the interest of tribals of the state: Chief Minister

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday chaired the 23rd meeting of the Tribal Advisory Council during which he said that through the council decisions will be taken in the interest of tribals.

He said that rules for TAC were not constituted for the last 20 years but his government has framed the rules and has appointed the members accordingly. He said that when development will take place in different sectors of Jharkhand then only the state will be able to rank among the developed states.

The Chief Minister said that the role of the tribals will have to be fixed to give a separate identity to the state and the council will be helpful in framing better schemes for the tribal community. He said that there was need to strengthen the social, economic, educational and political aspects of 27 percent tribal population of the state. The Chief Minister said that to make the tribals part of the all round development of Jharkhand many parameters will have to be fulfilled and in a planned manner they have to be brought in the mainstream of life.

The Chief Minister said that the tribals needed to be encouraged further in the areas of education and employment. He said that land is important for the existence of the tribals and also steps needed to be taken to check their declining populations. He said that priority should be also given to tackle long pending issues impacting the tribal communities.

Vice president of the TAC Champai Soren said that through different laws benefits have to be ensured to the tribals and the main goals behind the formation of the council will be realised on the ground. He said that it has been more than 20 years since formation of Jharkhand but still the issues of development, economic progress and declining population impacting the tribals have not been addressed. He said that the suggestions received in the meetings will be used for making the life better for tribals.
