IPS Praveen Singh no more

Ranchi, Apr 15: Former Ranchi SSP and senior IPS officer Praveen Singh died battling ill health at a private hospital in New Delhi.

 

Singh breathed his lat at Max Hospital in New Delhi where he was being treated for various ailments. An IPS officer of 1998 batch Mr Singh had served as SSP and also DIG of Ranchi Range.

 

Praveen Singh who hailed from Samstipur district of Bihar was a fire brand officer who was known for his quicks and resolute action against the criminals. Being the SSP of Ranchi on three occasion he had prevented communal clashed in the state capital.

 

Praveen Singh was given the charge of Ranchi SSP at a time when the area was under the terror of dreaded Maoist Kundan Pahan. Such was his terror that force had to be deployed from Namkum to Chandil if a senior police official had to go to Jamshedpur. It was his working attitude which forced Kundan Pahan and his associates to leave the area.
