Daltonganj, Mar 23: A high level team led by State’s Chief Secretary
Rajbala Verma, Home Secretary SKG Rahate and DGP D K Pandey visited
the Manatu block of the Palamu district and reviewed the progress of
the action plant being implemented in the area and also interacted
with the villagers.
Addressing the meeting Ms Verma said that the area has been through
difficult circumstances but things have changed after implementation
of the Manatu Action Plan and 13 focus area development plan. Not only
has the life style of the villagers improved but it also retriates the
commitment of the government towards their development and well being.
Ms Verma said to the district officials that she was not interested in
the plan size but wanted actual results for which all of them needed
to work on a mission mode.
During the review meet discussion was held on the condition of
education, health, welfare, social welfare, Mnrega, skill development,
food and civil supplies, rural roads and approach roads, drinking
water, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, dairy etch which are
being implemented in 58 panchayats of the Manatu block. In the meeting
discussion was also held on the condition of 62 schools being run in
the area including the drop out situation, survey of orphans,
admission in residential schools of welfare department and Kasturba
schools and MDM.
Reviewing the progress of the social welfare department the chief
secretary directed the charge of district social welfare officer
should be handed over to the most senior child project officer so that
the schemes for women and children can be run under the supervision of
a woman officer. She also directed to ensure distribution of
nutritional food at the anganwadi kendras, vaccinations. She asked
that the Sahaikas and Sevikas should establish coordination with the
Sahiyas of the health department for treatment of children and
pregnant women.
During the meeting the civil surgeon said that in the area 4 health
sub centers and a primary health care center are functional while a
proposal to build 7 new health sub centers has been sent to the state
government. In the LWE areas by means of health camps examination of
1008 Divyangs was held out of which 498 were issued medical
certificate.
